The 2018 Ford EcoSport is a much-anticipated subcompact SUV version which is going to hit the market as the facelifted version. It debuted in the Brazil for the 2003 model year and its second generation has been around since 2012. Recently, testing vehicle was spotted with camouflage covering front and rear fascias. It is obvious that mid-cycle facelift is happening and we might also see US-spec version as well.
What has been changed?
According to what we can see and get from unofficial reports and some spy photos, the new EcoSpor will get revised front and rear end styling and upgraded interior alongside with updated tech features. Some markets might also see a new engine option. What’s more, it appears that Ford can’t ignore an enormous popularity and sales boom of SUVs and crossovers and it might launch US version of the EcoSport as well.
2018 Ford EcoSport: Facelift, Changes
The 2018 Ford EcoSport will be based on the current Ford EcoSport version which rides on the brand’s global B-segment architecture. The same platform underpins the Fiesta which is available in Europe and US.
The body design of the forthcoming version will have some alterations, for instance, the front end of this version is going to be changed. A new front fascia will be provided to the 2018 version which makes it quite similar to the Ford Edge design. The newly designed front end will be having different style headlamps which are tapering towards the outer direction. The new sleek design of the headlamps is going to be a stylish change in 2018 model.
There will also be a new grille design and reworked front bumper as well. The bumper will include new black middle section and notable will also be new vertical fog lights.
Similar approach will be applied to the rear side which will also be refreshed with slightly changed taillights and new rear bumper.
The interior of the 2018 EcoSport is going to have some alternations similar to what can see in every facelift. Fresh materials will cover touch point surfaces and revised dash design. It will include new instrument panel and there will also be new multi-functional three-spoke steering wheel. Center console and HVAC controls will also feature some changes.
On the technology front some reports suggest SYNC 2 infotainment system and features that it brings. However, we hope that SYNC3 version will find its way to the new EcoSport which would certainly be the case if the US version is in the cards.
2018 Ford EcoSport: Engine options

The most of the engine lineup should be retained which includes a 1.0 liter cylinder petrol engine and larger 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol as well. On the other hand the new EcoSport might also offer a new Dragon 1.5 liter three-cylinder gasoline engine but it is yet to be confirmed. More details should be announced soon when we would have detailed engine specification and information about possible US EcoSport version.
