Chevrolet promises to offer completely redesigned entire lineup of its SUVs by the end of 2020. It delivers these models in many markets worldwide and all of them are fitted with particular specs for each market. The Chevy Captiva belongs to this list and it has been around in similar form with few minor facelifts since 2006. This model is expected to be replaced with new-generation version 2018 Chevy Captiva.
This Chevy’s SUV has been sold in several markets and in Australia it is offered under Holden badge. This was important to note because the testing vehicle which was spotted on this continent has been recognized as the Captiva replacement which might also be offered in the US. The new model is expected to switch to the new platform and also to get revised styling, interior and powertrain.
2018 Chevy Captiva: Platform
When it comes to the 2018 Chevy Captiva, there are some connections between Holden and Equinox model. Namely, the current Equinox model is based on the GM Theta platform with stretched wheelbase which also underpins the actual Holden Captiva model. But according to some reports, the new Chevrolet will shift to the D2XX architecture while in the US it should be sold as downsized Equinox. This new platform also is used by the new Astra and Cruze but also the latest Buick Envision rides on it.
From the exterior the new 2018 Captiva will have a more commanding look. Based on the spy shots, unlike on the previous model the headlights are much more angular. The size of the bumper will shrink in the current model as well. As compared to the previous model, the bumper will have more curved line. The grille will get Chevy’s dual-port design and overall shape of the model will be more streamlined.
The interior will be completely different and comfortable for the passengers. A very high level of comfort can be expected from the model. The latest infotainment system with larger touch screen, connectivity and smartphone integration will be provided. There will also be revised safety rig with more advanced features.
2018 Chevy Captiva: Engine Options
The new 2018 Chevy Captiva will have slight mechanical changes in the engine lineup. Due to these mechanical changes the new model will have diesel engine that could generate 163 horse powers with the torque of around 170 pounds per feet.
There will be another engine with more power and displacement. The 2.4L engine will have the ability to generate the power around 170 horse powers.
Just like the previous models, the new model will have front wheel drive as a standard. Depending upon the use the new model will have optional AWD. There will be 6- speed automatic transmission.
