2018 Audi Q7 Review, Diesel, Changes, Release Date

Audi is recognized for its upscale driving features, worth coveting performance and premium cabin. Seven passenger 2018 Audi Q7 is a wagon-like luxury crossover and main rivals are Volvo XC 90, BMW X5, Mercedes GLS and GLE class.

The 2018 model is redesigned new-generation Q7 with improvements on all fronts. The new model is restyled, more comfortable, loaded with new tech and safety features. It is also based on new platform and light-weight materials are present in body construction. 2018 Audi Q7 has launched just one powertrain: supercharged 3.0 TFSI gasoline V-6 along with 325 lb/ft torque and 333 horsepower. It is stated that new versions will be launched (within a short time) having inline-4 turbocharged 2.0 liter. In a later phase, there will also be Q7 e-tron Quattro and TDI diesel models. Each powertrain has automatic 8-speed transmission along with four-wheel drive.

In terms of fuel economy available V-6 powertrain is rated at 21 mpg combined or 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Peak towing capacity for this version is 7, 700 pounds.

A new-generation 2018 Audi Q7 is based on the new platform which is also spread on other models like Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg but new Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus will also benefit from this architecture. With high-strength steel intensive treatment and light-weight body construction, the model achieves to drop around 500 pounds compared to its predecessor. Aluminum made body elements include front fenders, hood doors, and hatch.

Styling and Interior:

In terms of styling, the model comes in essentially same proportions but it looks sleeker and more modern plus it sports two inches lower center of mass. Front fascia takes familiar approach but it features modern headlights detailed with arrow-shaped DRLs and single frame grille is also more modern-looking.

From the profile point of view, it is more wagon-like with also sleeker body sculpting but with pronounced beltline.

Inside it is nicely detailed and quality of materials is very high. Seats are comfortable for long rides and dash features horizontally oriented design with a driver-focused layer of controls. Cargo capacity is 14.8 cu ft with all seats functional while max capacity with rear rows flat is 71.6 cu ft.

Available trims, Features:

The upcoming 2018 Audi Q7 offers Flagship Prestige, Base Premium, and Midlevel Premium Plus trim levels. These trim levels are powered by the all-wheel Quattro drive and V-6 supercharged engine.

The base Premium models include features like 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, sunroof, xenon headlights, etc. Inside is available leather upholstery, three-zone climate control, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, heard front seats with 8-way power functionality, driver memory setting, etc. Techwise this trim includes MMI infotainment system, a seven-inch center screen, satellite and HD radio, 10-speaker sound system, while as an option can be had navigation, voice control, smartphone integration, 4G LTE WiFi, etc.

Premium Plus is also equipped with keyless ignition and entry, exterior auto-dimming mirrors, ambient lighting, power adjustable steering wheel, and can also be expanded with Vision and Cold Weather Packages.

Prestige is offered with 20-inch wheels, more safety features, 8.3-inches screen, premium 19-speaker Bose sound system and can be improved with Luxury package which adds  18-way power front seats with massaging function, adaptive air suspension, and all wheel steering, night vision camera system, etc.

Safety Features:

Customers can select additional safety features, including automatic braking, collision alerts, adaptive cruise control and night vision that can detect animals as well. Vehicle-exit assist gets the support of the blind-spot supervising system in order to inform the driver when cars or cyclists are coming. The cross-traffic feature can pulse the vehicle brakes when there are chances of collision.

2018 Audi Q7: Release Date and Price

The 2018 Audi Q7 release date is expected in the end of the year.

As compared to the 2015 model, there is almost 13% increase in the price of 2018 Audi Q7. It is claimed that the prices of the base Premium model are around $55, 750. With additional features like adjustable suspension and all-wheel steering, and driver assistance package it will reach $73, 000.
